Why SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) Matters

To qualify for SSDI, applicants must have a sufficient number of work credits, which are accumulated through their work history and payroll tax contributions. Generally, an individual needs 40 credits, 20 of which were earned in the last 10 years ending with the year of the disability onset. Younger workers may qualify with fewer credits.
